Late this Spring, our neighbors from MyWebGrocer approached us looking for help with a website redesign for their event, a 24-hour hackathon, called HackVT. We were excited about the project, and worked with MWG to design a simple, yet elegant and exciting one-page site for the event.
Our goal for the Hack VT website was to update the event's online presence to match the image of its tech savvy sponsors. We also aimed to create an interface that could be easily updated so that the site can be re purposed for the annual event for years to come, using our preferred WordPress CMS.
The navigation of the site was broken down into 4 main elements on a single scrolling page, including details, judges, sponsors, and a prominently placed "Sign Up" call to action, as well as a single sub-page highlighting last years results. In the Judges section, the team built an interactive slider allowing the visitor to easily browse a brief description of each of the judges, and give them the opportunity to learn more with a link to their personal sites. Beyond the updated site navigation and design, our interactive team incorporated responsive design into the site to embrace one of the latest trends in web design for a cutting edge event.
