The past two days I've dedicated my time to a creating and packaging a new content offer - writing, designing, flowing, proofing - from the ground up. In a perfect world, this is all I would have had on my plate.

In reality, as an inbound marketer, my responsibilities don't start and begin with one piece of the inbound puzzle. There are many different moving parts to an effective inbound marketing campaign that require you to be agile, a great multitasker and always on your game. From blogging to email marketing to campaign building to sales support and more -  it can seem like a tall task to master.

So, on top of building a new content offer - myself and the marketing team also diligently blogged, scheduled and engaged on social media, planned for 2015 and more. Sometimes I wonder how I can keep it all straight. Luckily, software-based services, like HubSpot, exist to help us grow our businesses and keep us on track. We have a lot to thank HubSpot for, especially supercharging our marketing and sales strategies, allowing us to grow quickly.

Make the Most of Your Time with HubSpot Blogging

1. Content Calendar

In an effect to streamline our process without adding another login to an already long list, the New Breed team leverages the content calendar within HubSpot. Before, we were using other software services to task team members with blog topics, track progress, and set milestones. With the HubSpot content calendar, you can organize, schedule and publish content all in one place. 

Spend less time worrying about who is writing what blog post and when by assigning tasks to your team. This way you don't have to go through the trouble of reaching out to numerous individuals - instead it's only a click away. Within the calendar, you can tag tasks by associated campaign that way when it comes time to plan for next quarter, you know what topics you should talk about and which people you'd like to contribute to the blog.

2. Blog Editor

Next to the SEO Suggestions tool (which I'll talk about next), the design and usability of the blog editor itself significantly increases productivity while blogging. The text area is HUGE making it easy to keep your place and zoom through creating your posts. The increased working area allows you think more creativity as well - giving you more space to ensure images, graphics and special effects. 

In addition, the editing toolbar is amazing. It includes most of your basic editing tools such as font, size, alignment, bullets, indents and colors. You can also insert images of any size (as well as edit them using the Image Editor), calls-to-action, hyperlinks and grids. To save on time, you can pre-set your formatting settings to create specific font styles and sizes for headers and paragraphs. The editor makes blog development and design quick and painless.

3. SEO Suggestions

SEO is absolutely crucial for success in inbound marketing - so crucial that I leave it to the experts: Sam and HubSpot. Sam is our in-house SEO guru. Ask her a question and without delay receive pure search-engine brilliance. She really has a knack for what she does, so much so that she's always cranking on customer projects. Thankfully, when we can't grab Sam for a blog post, HubSpot has an intuitive SEO tool attached to their blog editor.

Simply choose your keyword you want to optimize for and it gives you a step-by-step list of each element that needs to be optimized; where it lives in the post, the criteria of optimization, suggestions and color-coding to represent if you've completed that optimization. No second guessing, no hours of research - pure Sam SEO brilliance. 

Don't think that means you don't need someone on your team well-versed in SEO. Technology is great, but it's not perfect. As a team, we're always following Sam's optimization advice and going through posts periodically to be sure they're optimized to the latest algorithms and strategies. 

4. Optimize for Mobile

Blog posts need more than just copy optimization, you also need to test for device optimization. With the growing popularity and use of mobile devices for social media, blogging, reading and more, you need to be sure your blog posts are going to look right and work accordingly in mobile view. 

Instead of taking the time to go to mobile and view your blog, or use another software, HubSpot allows you to preview your blog post in mobile view. This way you can create, view and edit all within the same platform. No more 10+ tabs!

5. Generate Leads

One of the reasons you're blogging in the first place is to generate traffic and leads for your business, right? According to the inbound methodology, you attract visitors then convert them into opportunities. With your business blog, visitors convert when a call-to-action (CTA) is attached somewhere on the post. By attaching a CTA promoting a relevant guide, eBook, or template to the specific blog post, it creates a path for visitors to follow as they travel (hopefully) through your revenue acquisition funnel

Clicking the star icon on the toolbar, you can quickly add a call-to-action button or web banner to drive your blog readers deeper into your website. You can even personalize them to each reader using Smart CTAs. Use pre-created CTAs or make them instantly, either way you'll be creating a clear path for visitors to take.

6. Analytics

Don't forget about a blog post after it's published. You put in time researching, developing and refining your post - now it's time to measure just how far your efforts can take lead generation efforts. Instead of embedding a code onto your blog and connecting that to an analytics tracking tool, the HubSpot Blog houses insightful data on blog traffic and conversions.
